Increasing vineyard heat units

Does anyone have knowledge or experience for increasing vineyard heat units locally by windbreaks, reflective mulch, etc.?

  1. Of course plastic sheeting on row sides has been used extensively but needs care, is considerable work and has considerable cost.

Another way is to cover the rows in plastic like Heather does for the blueberries

  4. Lamont Can you give a summary of your cloth windbreak results? Is the windbreak 8 ft high, across only one end of the vineyard? What was the increase in heat units and did you find how the increase varied with distance from windbreak?
